Fluid Film

Fluid Film® is a lanolin based rust / corrosion preventive and lubricant that provides long term protection and lubrication for all metal surfaces. Fluid Film® locks out and displaces moisture while lubricating moving parts for extended periods of time. It will not be readily washed off with water, but creates a barrier of protection that continues to work even in the most corrosive of environments. Fluid Film® is the worldwide standard for corrosion protection and lubrication.

Meet the Fluid Film Product Family

For over 55 years the words remain the same.

FLUID FILM .... > > > STOPS RUST

Fluid Film products offer powerful corrosion protection for all metals and superior lubrication for all moving parts. They are long lasting, thixotropic liquids and gels that have been used for over 55 years in the highly corrosive marine environment of ships and offshore drilling rigs. More recently they have been introduced and successfully utilized in the lawn & garden, aviation and automobile industries, as well as providing an eco friendly solution for home maintenance. Facilities where they are used include government, commercial fishing, gas companies, farming, salt, power, and industrial plants.

Fluid Film is formulated from specially processed wool-wax, highly refined petroleum oils and selected agents to provide corrosion control, penetration, metal wetting and water displacement. These long lasting products contain no solvents, will not dry out and will penetrate to the base of all metals, providing corrosion protection from both natural and industrial atmospheres. Heavily corroded and/or frozen parts such as nuts, bolts, shafts, etc. that would normally be damaged during maintenance, can be salvaged by applying Fluid Film.

COMMON GRADES
Shown in Order of Thinnest to Thickest
Liquid A   Normally sprayed or brushed onto metal to protect.  Clear when applied. Can be sprayed onto metal fabrications (etc) to protect during storage and transport
Oily amber transparent liquid. Environmentally friendlier. Solvent free. Non-toxic. Will not evaporate. Reactswith moisture to form a soft gelatinous barrier. This mixture is chemically combined and thus is unavailable to cause corrosion

Anti-corrosive coating, lubricant and penetrant for all metals. Provides protection against attack by moisture and salt solutions. May be applied to soften and remove heavy rust. Used in the maintenance of aircraft, heavy equipment, marine equipment (such as rudders, voids, inaccessible areas), mining equipment, farm machinery and automobiles. Also used in refineries, salt plants, power plants, and gas companies. If conditions dictate a heavier coating or lubricant, refer to other FLUID FILM product bulletins or contact Stott Industrial Supplies.

NAS
(and AS)

A slightly thicker version of Liquid A, which is supplied in Hand Pump Can (NAS) and Aerosol Cans (AS). Used as General Lubricant and Anti Corrosion Product. Product is used to protect machinery such as Lathe Beds, and Tooling as it tends not attract dirt, as oil based products tend to.

Bolts, shafts, etc. that would normally be damaged during maintenance, can be salvaged by applying FLUID FILM NAS.

Heavily corroded and/or frozen parts such as nuts, bolts, shafts, etc. that would normally be damaged during maintenance, can be salvaged by applying Fluid Film® AS & NAS.

AR   A heavier form of NAS, (Fluid Grease consistency) brown in colour, which is normally brushed on.
Used in heavy marine and general industry, particularly for ballast tanks and voids, chains, hoists, wire rope, winches, turnbuckles, conveyors, bearings, augers, drills, valves, linkages, scales, joints and zert fittings. Preserves parts in storage or during shipment.Used in the maintenance of aircraft, heavy equipment, and automobiles. Also used in refineries, salt plants, power plants and gas companies.
NSW and QLD Mines Dept Approved (MDA) for use on Electrical Flameproof Enclosure Flamepaths in Hazardous areas

BN & BW   Normally used for Marine & Industrial Applications such as in Ballast Tanks and Voids
Permanently soft gel coating for all metals. Will not evaporate. Environmentally friendlier. Solvent free. Non-toxic.
BN is a Natural Light Brown Colour. BW is Coloured WHITE
Anti-corrosive coating for all metals. Protects against attack by moisture, salt solutions and atmospheres in marine, agriculture and industrial environments. Applications are made to canisters, structure, and other equipment requiring protection from corrosion for extended periods
Not recommended for extended exposure to bright sunlight. For these applications use Fluid Film GEL BEW (Exterior). See Technical Bulletin #202.3.
If conditions dictate a heavier or lighter coating or lubricant, refer to other FLUID FILM product bulletins for semi-liquids, gels and greases or consult Stott Industrial Supplies

WRO-EP   Normally used to preserve Wire Ropes.  Formulated for corrosion protection and lubrication of standing and running rigging.  It is also used for drag line, bridge cables and general wire rope maintenance.

This product has been specifically designed to the requirements of the US Navy and conforms to the US Navy Mil-G-18458 B (SH) Specification.
Permanently soft gel. Conforms to MIL-PRF-18458 C Amendment 5. Submarine Material Usage Category-Limited-100°F Maximum Temperature.

Its components include additives against extreme pressure and for improvement of the gliding factor.  High tackiness minimizes throw-off on high speed running gear.  It displaces moisture and can be applied on rusty surfaces

Rusty wire rope and cable should be first treated with Fluid Film Liquid A or Liquid AR, to attain maximum penetration.

    Colour Greenish black
WRO-EP is recommended for the general maintenance of wire rope. It provides corrosion protection and lubrication for standing and running rigging, drag lines and bridge cable. The high tackiness of WRO-EP minimizes throw-off on higher speed running rigging and provides higher resistance to water abrasion and washout when used in tidal areas. Extreme pressure properties provide excellent lubrication for both wire rope and open gear applications.
